Dream your own dreams, Achieve your own goals. Your journey is your own and unique.
~Roy T. Bennett, The Light in the Heart
My journey is my own. The road I travel is the road I choose. Whether it is full of bumps or is smooth. It always has something to teach me.
We learn from people all the time. From every exchange there is something to take away. We make our decisions and it is up to us to make ourselves and our happiness a priority.
Your journey is your own and you’re responsible for your happiness.
And then there is the realisation that life is entirely too short.
Life happens and life waits for no one... Over the years, I have heard these words many times and they have stuck with me. There are moments that can happen in a short span of time So, what is important? Materialistic stuff? The car you drive, the house you own, or the clothes your wear?
It is the moments we cherish that count. Indescribable moments with those we love, they are special. There is much more, but in the end, when the day is over and the sun sets, it is memories. They are easy, loving, quiet, and even spectacular moments that feed us. Regrets, missed opportunities or risky decisions are not as important.
LIFE WAITS FOR NO ONE. Those are the words that come to mind. I won’t wait for more. More of everything. We are limited in time, so one day we’ll be too weak to do anything, even lay in bed all day. It’s gonna be the period that we remember what we’ve been through, we’ve overcome and I believe the biggest regret will be not spending time with those we love.
The answer to “what truly matters” is not an easy task. It’s not a matter of putting things on a list and your life set up. It’s about making a north-star and experimenting your own way on that journey, discovering what truly matters is a journey that gradually leads you to find out what it is.
No one in the world is going to beat you at being you. You’re never going to be as good at being me as I am. I’m never going to be as good at being you as you are. Certainly, listen and absorb, but don’t try to emulate. It’s a fool’s errand. Instead, each person is uniquely qualified at something. They have some specific knowledge, capability, and desire that nobody else in the world does, purely from the combinatorics of human DNA and development.
When you get to the end of your life, you would want to be able to look back and see that you made the best of it. That you did everything you wanted to do and didn't waste time on things that didn't matter. That you made a difference in the world and made a difference in the lives of those around you. You want to be able to say that you lived your life to the fullest and that you wouldn't change a thing. So, live your life like that. Make every day count. Do something that matters. Make a difference.
Life's journey isn't about arriving at the grave safely in a pristine body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting "Holy shit, what a ride!"
