About Us
The Literary Society of Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies (aka LitSoc) is a collection of diverse, yet like-minded individuals who come together to create a safe space, a place where we can forget about our worldly worries and express ourselves freely. We believe that creativity and learning can’t and shouldn’t be forced and enjoying the process is equally, if not more, important. Through writing sessions, book discussions, national events, frequent outings and several other initiatives we not only spark creativity and instil good writing skills in our members, but we also ensure that everyone has a good time.
We are always evolving and coming up with new initiatives and creative and interesting tasks all coming from members’ suggestions, which we highly respect. Thus, the work we do is never fixed, although a quick summary of the things we usually do is: -
-
Bibliotheca: It is the Annual Literature Fest of Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies which comes under Crescendo, the cultural fest of our college. Under Bibliotheca, we hold several events, both online and offline revolving around the world of literature. We also hold our flagship event: 'Hearsay' under Bibliotheca, in which a diverse set of people from different walks of life come and share their experiences and wisdom in small groups, kind of like a library of humans.
-
The blog: The latest addition to the LitSoc arsenal is our very own blog. This blog is a medium for people to express themselves freely, a place for them to showcase their creativity. It’s a place to capture the personalities that pass through the halls of this college; all of them in a singular quest for success yet defined by a unique set of ideas through which they view the world. Through this medium, we hope to inspire and get inspired.

-
The college magazine: Formerly known as the Ed-board, LitSoc is responsible for editing, designing and publishing the annual college magazine: Quadrangle, where we try to capture the essence of the college and year that went by.
-
Publishing Books: We have in the past published our own book, which was a collection of short stories, written both by our members and others willing to contribute and we are working towards doing it again this year. It is a good exercise in writing for an official publication but also gives the writers a sense of accomplishment.

-
Sessions: Creative sessions are held within the society to induce learning and growth but primarily for having fun, enjoying and creating a bond among the various members to have a close-knit family-like community. Sessions such as One-page group story composition, Basics of story writing (Hindi+English), Basics of poetry writing (Hindi+English). Writing prompts' inspired impromptu writing, Performing/Speaking Sessions wherein individuals perform their own and other pieces of literature in the comfort of a supportive group for self-expression and also learning the intricacies of performance art.

-
Outings: We try to go out with our members on various trips to literary events such as Jaipur Literature Festival, Ashoka Litfest, etc. to make new experiences and have fun surrounded by things and people we adore.

-
Live Projects: One of our attempts this academic year will be to try and do live projects pertaining to content writing/ copywriting and other fields with publishing houses and literature related organisations, to scratch the itch of writing and reading in our members but also giving them a corporate boost.

-
Charity Work: Although we aren’t a social organisation we aim to assist impoverished and marginalised communities through our own literary ways.
